How did you feel about Ms. McDowell moderating the discussion and you as a class leading it? What went well and what could be improved? Do you have any suggestions for next time?
What was the most interesting part of the discussion for you? What did you learn? What new ideas do you have as a result of the discussion?

I think Thom is having mixed feelings about finding out that his mom is a superhero. I think Thom feels betrayed, angry, and confused
I think he feels betrayed because he probably thinks that his mom should’ve told him before she left. I would feel the same way if my mom told me she was a superhero.
I think he feels angry because his mom didn’t tell him when he was younger. If she would’ve told him earlier than Thom would have a better understanding of the weird situations that occurred to him. Like when Goran was injured in the basketball game and when Thom touched him Goran felt better.
I think Thom feels confused because he doesn’t know to handle that his mother is a superhero. He might think that he might have powers like her. He will also think that he would have to live with her for learning how to use his powers.
That concludes why I think Thom is feeling betrayed, angry, and confused
The word hero has changed because before it used to mean people who saved people but now it means people who help around and who do things for there community. For the basketball team it could mean that it is a person who helps win the game or who scores the most points. It could also mean a person who helped out the most in the game to win like a water boy. For thom it would mean his dad or the hero’s that he likes. For thom it could also mean to him a person who does something heroic with a cape and mask. To me a super hero is a person who has super powers and saves people but a person with no powers who save people is just a hero not a super hero. A hero does not always have to be a human it could also be a animal too.
Thom feelings have changed a lot because he just hound out his mom is a super hero.
He wants to meet his mom he wants to find out every thing
Now he is running away because he was watching gay porn.
he does not want his dad to know he is gay
Journey entry #5
: Goran was important in chapter 1. I say this because when Goran hurt his leg in the basketball game Thom grabbed his leg and it seemed to regenerate. It was also important because it seemed like he was rubbing his leg in a homosexual way. The team thought was gay. His coach kicked from the team because he was gay. I think he will return because he seems like Thom’s rival since they don’t like each other. He is important because he was the first to experience Thom’s powers by healing his leg. I think Thom has the ability to regenerate others by touching them. I wonder how he got the power if his mom has invisibility. Isn’t it suppose to be genetic?
Goran was important in chapter 1 because the comment he made a comment about Toms sexuality and it was racist to gays. I think Goran will come back
. Goran was first seen in the basketball game. Goran is important in the book because he might be a problem. Goran is racist to gays and tom will probably try and get revenge on goran or try and hurt him .I think Goran will bully him again and again.
I think that the class leading this discussion was good cause there was no pressure of a teacher telling u “no” or “yes.” I do think that since it was run by the class that everyone was a bit loud. I think that on page 51 when Thom says “Hope can ruin u.” He means that hoping to much will ruin you because you will hope so much that u will rely on that hope and listen to reason.
Thom says this because he relied so much on this hope that his mom would come back that how he has no hopes at all.

I thought that the most interesting part of the discussion was when the class was commenting on the difference between being a hero and a superhero. For me, I always considered superheroes to be comic book characters, such as Superman and Spiderman. I always considered heroes to be "normal" people, like policemen and firemen, whose jobs and responsibilities include saving lives and helping others. I draw the line between the two with the fact that superheroes are fictional characters and heroes are real-life people. But, just because people do not have superhuman qualities doesn't mean we cannot call them superheroes... protecting our citizens and fighting crime seem pretty super to me.
I really enjoyed the part of the discussion where we began to talk about the difference between the different kinds of heroes there are. I think we all came to an agreement on the fact that policemen, doctors, firemen, etc. can all be considered heroes because of their desire to help humanity. However, there are people like Osama Bin Laden, who although we view him as a terrorist and a projector of evil, many men and women in his country would consider him a hero. It all depends upon your point of view, your perspective, and your cultural beliefs. The discussion today was so great and I am so proud. However, for next time, we should work on respecting our classmates thoughts, opinions, and beliefs and not talk out of turn. Otherwise, great job all =)
I think it was fun leading the discussion because we got more into asking questions but there was a most interesting part i like was when Thom was on the bus and villans took control i think thom posed as a sidekick rather thana hero another part i like was when Thom was invited to tryouts
i think it was fun leading the discusstions and everyone had there own opionoin
I think the the discuation went well. Ms.Mcdowel did a good job we talk alot. A strong part in the was we were talking about heros and superheros. I like that part was good and fun. In the start it was kinda of wild. But after that it went great.

It felt unfair because 1 person was ruling it. At least 3 people should have ruled. The most interesting part was the snowball was my favorite part. Goran was important in Chapter 1 for the comment he made. I think Thom's mother is alive because it only been like 10 years. Maybe he wants to find a love so he isn't lonely.
