In sticking with our prior topic, how do homophobic comments affect the people around them? How did the homophobic comment from our last reading affect Thom's coach? Do you think his coach recognized that he was influenced by that comment? Why or why not?

the homophobic comment effected thoms coach beacuase he kicked him off the team because he was gay and that gary coleman guy effected his life with homophobic comment. It effects me beacause itz wrong to judge somebody by what sexuality the like and what color they are beacause itz called descrimination which is against the law and for somebody to do that to somebody ekse is wrong and disrespectful.
Thom’s coach discrimates Thom because he doesn’t like gay people. Because, he is probly homophobic. Homophobic comments haven’t accured a lot between Thom and his coach. But in the few times that Thom’s coach has used homophobic comments it has nearly destroyed Thom’s confidence in being gay. I think that Thom doesn’t want to be gay because everyone is always discriminating him.
Thom probly hates being gay because he has to hide all of his emotions and secrets from his loved ones (example: his father.) Thom is always hiding his emotions from everyone and being that he has to do this he holds in a lot of stress. Meaning that he always has to “masturbate” to relieve his stress which then eventually causes more stress because then he has to hold in a secret. Being that now Thom knows that his mom is a superhero will change Thom’s life because he will wonder why she never told him and if being gay changes someone’s perspective about you even though your gay.

homophobic comments effect people mostly bad like when thoms coach kicked him of the bascetkball team.
I think homophobic comments affected Thom because when he was called gay his whole team felt that they didn’t want to be around him. I think the coach kicked him off the team because he is homophobic. I think the coach was very aware of his homophobia because he was discriminating against gay people. I am not influenced by homophobic comments because some people discriminate against people and make a joke about it which means that they must be aware of their homophobia.
I don’t think they affect me because I’m not gay and I don’t have any gay friends. But I guess sometimes I feel bad for gay people when they are getting made fun of because it is disrespectful and mean. If I was gay I think I would be personally offended, or if I knew someone that was gay. I could help raise awareness about homophobia by starting a club and talking about why people shouldn’t be biased against gay people. I also can become friends with someone who is gay so I can learn more about them. It would be nice to hear how homophobic comments affected them and learn what I can do to change that in the future.

It can affect them by hurting their feelings.He kicked him off the team because he thaught he was gay maby.Yes he was because the coach problay thaught he was GAY.It does not affect me because nobody has ever said that to me.It may not affect me because if im not gay it wont affect me as much.
when a gay peroson is called a f***** they feel down because they dont think there much diffrent from anybody or diffrent. it made thoms coach kick him off the team and it changed the way his team looked at him.it influenced his chocie because he dosnt want people to think he supports gays. they dont affect me. i am aware of the damage.
They affect people alot they hurt alot. Those commets can change a gay person's life. Thom's coach kicked him out of the team because of the comment the Gary Coleman lookalike said. He doesnt recognized that the comment influenced him he thinks he did the right thing. Homophobic comments dont effect me but I see what they do to other people and how there lives change .
